Profile: Mr OneTeas, an artist who is as creative as he is committed.
This week, we’re shining a spotlight on one of our artists, “Mr. OneTeas.” Born in France in 1984, he began his self-taught graffiti career in 2005. A curious soul and avid traveler, he has honed his style through the people he has met and the things he has discovered, leaving his mark in major cities around the world. Today, he is a graffiti artist, painter, photographer, and sculptor, with a body of work as eclectic as it is creative. He has more than 400 creations around the world to his name!
Rife with references to iconic pop culture figures, his work explores the question of obsolescence. In his studio, he gives a second life to materials and consumer goods from the past that reflect society’s shortcomings. Alongside this, Mr. OneTeas has been running art and recycling workshops for children for more than seven years. In other words, what best characterizes his artistic approach is recycl’art—and that’s something we love at Galerie La Manufacture! We work extensively with materials and love giving them and everyday objects a new lease on life, while offering a critical or creative perspective on society.
Drawing inspiration from the media, politics, and culture, he subverts images and reality, crafting a critique of society in which humor meets the unexpected. The symbols he embraces are used to denounce rampant overconsumption. So it’s no surprise that he founded the “Wack Donald’s Project” to fight the excesses of junk food and fast food. Since 2014, this artist has taken his art to the streets of Prague, New York, Paris, Brussels, Porto… Most recently, he has taken part in numerous international artistic projects and collaborations. These include the Freedom Project for the NGO Waves For Water, which aims to provide everyone with access to clean drinking water, and the socially minded project No Signal, Citizens of the World, a collaborative creation that builds connections—a meaningful façade saying no to racism.
