Portrait : Eric Liot, récupérateur d’images et de symboles

This week, we are shining a spotlight on Eric Liot, a painter, sculptor, assemblage artist, and collage artist. Born in 1964, this Normandy-based artist has been exhibiting in France and abroad since 1990. He quickly made a name for himself as a collector of images and symbols, drawing inspiration from contemporary icons and everyday characters.

In his work, you will find your favorite heroes (Superman), pop icons from consumer culture and advertising (Bibendum), and characters from films, cartoons, and video games. Eric Liot draws inspiration from American Pop Art, particularly Andy Warhol. He is also influenced by the works of artists associated with Narrative Figuration, such as Erró and Peter Klasen.

Close to the world of street art, his work is made up of found objects, cardboard packaging, and elements from comic books and advertisements. He combines and plays with materials and images. Although he works with a variety of collage materials, wood remains his favorite; he uses it with creativity and originality to create unique works.

Straddling sculpture and painting, Eric Liot creates his work in successive layers, which he cuts out and assembles. An original artist with a vivid imagination, he brings the real and the imaginary together. We invite you to discover his works in our showroom in the 16th arrondissement, by booking an appointment or by calling us on 0648769729.
